Another amazing designer from the Gray’s School of Art was Sophie Holloway. When I asked Sophie about her collection she said “My collection has been strongly influenced by the 18th century style and the concept of women projecting power through dress. I have put a strong emphasis on fine tailoring, concentrating on the structure and silhouette of each garment. In addition I have combined this with a very toned down colour palette inspired by the neo-classical marbled floors of 18th century mansions. The marled grey wool used in my collection echoes the grainy texture of the marble, and the black and white is a direct reference to these chequered floors.”
