Contouring is something that is very new to me. At the start of this year I decided to try out more makeup techniques and try new products, not only to expand my knowledge, but to try out and review so you can know what the product is like before you buy.I had read hundreds of blog post and watched countless amounts of YouTube videos trying to figure out how to get the perfect contour with various different products.
I actually found the Stila Shape & Shade Custom Contour Duo palette by accident after reading about the Stila Custom Contour Brush, which everyone was raving about. I have to agree, the brush is amazing. It is two sided, one side has a large flat head which is perfect for using on your temple or cheeks and a smaller brush at the other side which is best for small areas such as the nose or for precision. I have ended up using the smaller side of the brush to apply my contour and the large flat head side to blend. The brush is amazing and super easy to use. It is lightweight and by holding it in the middle gives you the perfect control to blend and perfect your contour.
Now on to the palette. The Stila Shape & Shade Custom Contour Duo palette comes in three shades; Light, Medium and Deep. This is the first thing that made me love the palette as, due to having extremely light skin, it made me finding a contour shade and highlighting shade which compliment each other so much easier and shade me time and money trying to find two separate products which would do the same job.
The Stila Shape & Shade Custom Contour Duo palette is incredibly creamy and super easy to apply. My only little warning is that a lot of this product goes a long way, so you really do not need to apply a lot of the product to your brush – Small amounts! Another thing I love about this product is that it comes with a small leaflet telling you the best places to highlight and contour for different face shapes and areas which you might like to work on. I found this great as, since I am new to the contouring and highlighting world, it made the process a lot easier for me to do on the first few applications and now I know exactly where is best to contour and highlight for my face shape.
I would seriously recommend this product to anyone looking to start contouring and highlighting. Yes, it is a little bit pricy – the brush is £33 and the palette is £31 – however, it will last you a long time as only a little of the product is needed per use.
This sounds really sweet. I recently bought myself a Nars contour kit which I love, but after it runs out I would be keen to trial some more.
