72 hours in Barcelona

Barcelona is somewhere I have always wanted to go. Everyone who I know that has visited this city has absolutely raved about it and after spending three days there last week, I completely understand why.

I fell in love with Barcelona with about five minutes of arrival. Always something going on from markets to concerts, to sight seeing and tapas eating it really was my type if city. Below is my top four things to do when spending 72 hours in the city.

  1. Eat ALL the tapas

You can’t go to Spain and not have tapas! I seriously recommend Tosca Tapas. Situated directly in front of the stunning Palau de la Music, this cute little cafe caters to all your needs. We loved this place so much we went twice! Once for lunch and once for dinner. The food was delicious, menu you had great variety and the staff were super lovely! What more could you want?
  2. Head to Port Vell
IMG_1716Port Vell is a beautiful and extremely scenic part of Barcelona as the photo above proves.  Take a walk along the promenade and drink sangria in one of the cafes, visit the aquarium or take a few minutes to ponder in the beautiful shopping mall there but whatever you do, make sure it is on your to do list!
  3. Sight Seeing!

Sight Seeing is a must to do in any city. I would seriously recommend getting a three day underground ticket (21€ and also gets you on the bus and trams). It allows you to see a lot more of the city and stumble across some of the most amazing and beautiful spots as you walk around. Metro stations are on every other corner and definitely not hard to find! Sight Seeing highlights for me were Gothic Quarter, Montjuic, Port Vell and Las Ramblas.
  4. Experience the nightlife!
Head to Las Ramblas at night for amazing food, drink and street entertainment. Barcelona is a city that never sleeps so make sure you make the most of the city of night birds!

Have you been to Barcelona? What would you say is a must do in the city?
