Recently one of my best friends, Orla from Orla Byrne Makeup, came over to visit Scotland for the first time.
I was super excited for us to catch up after not seeing each other for two years. The best thing about our relationship is that we can spend two years apart, but as soon as we are together, its like no time has passed at all! It was also a great experience to show Orla around Glasgow and some of the West Coast of Scotland. It made me realise how many activities and beautiful scenery there is right on my own front door step that I didn’t appreciate before!
We kicked off with food at the legendary Bread Meats Bread before heading to Gin71 for cocktails. We then went back to our hotel to get changed before hitting the town for a good old dance! On Sunday Morning we jumped on the hop-on hop-off Glasgow bus tour to see all the sights before getting off in Finneston to grab food at The KelvinGrove Cafe. After eating the delicious food, we agreed our night of dancing had caught up with us and headed home to pop our feet up and get some sleep – Gosh we are getting old!
Our Second day was spent exploring the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond and climbing to the top of Dumbarton Rock (which was such a work out but so worth it for the beautiful views at the top). We finished with dinner and cocktails in my hometown of Gourock.
We spent our last day exploring all the museums which Glasgow had to offer. From Scotland Street School to Kelvingrove Art Gallery, we took in some of the culture Glasgow has whilst learning about Glasgows past and its beginnings . We even made a quick pitstop at Tantrum Doughnuts – seriously if you are ever in Glasgow you HAVE to go. BEST DOUGHNUTS EVER.
Sadly the trip was as always short but sweet! I always have the best time when Orla is over or when I head to Dublin! Until next time…
Have you done a staycation before?
