I’m not shy. From a young age I was told I could talk for Scotland. I find speaking to people easy and speaking to a large group of people seems to come naturally to me. So, when I was asked if I would like to go and speak at the Member Wise Harnessing The Web Conference 2016 in London I grasped the opportunity with both hands.
It was great to talk about the company I work for on a full-time basis and share my experiences of building an online community. We got asked lots of questions at the end too which is apparently a good sign with these things!
It was a great day down in London. The sun was shining (which was amazing because it pretty much rained for the WHOLE of September in Scotland), I heard some amazing talks and picked up some handy notes about how I could improve my role at work.
Hopefully this will allow more public speaking opportunities to arise for me!
How do you find public speaking?
