I dread winter coming around for a few reasons. It is not my favourite season due to the cold weather, the dark nights creeping in and the prospect of snow. However, the main reason I do not like winter is that the cold, dry, winter air wreaks havoc on my skin. Even if I don’t have a psoriasis flare during the winter months, my skin still gets exceptionally dry and a good moisturiser is needed.
I find that having different moisturisers on hand to get me through the winter months help. Below, I share my top moisturisers to survive this winter with dry skin and psoriasis:
1. La Roche-Posey Toleriane Sensitive Riche Moisturiser
The La Roche-Posey Toleriane Sensitive Riche Moisturiser is a product I added to my skincare routine at the start of November 2018. As the weather started getting super cold and I could feel my skin getting drier, I knew I need to add something new to my routine. This moisturiser is incredible. It feels light on my skin and is super hydrating. A little of this product goes a long way, so use it sparingly! One of my favourite beauty bloggers Bambi Does Beauty also recently spoke about this product on her Instagram stories and how her brother has also had great success with this product on their psoriasis.
2. Vichy Nutrilogie 2 Intense Cream Moisturiser
This moisturiser is another one that I started using in the Autumn months last year. This moisturiser is great for people with very dry skin or if you have patches of psoriasis. I found the Vichy Nutrilogie 2 Intense Cream Moisturiser was perfect to use in the morning before I applied my foundation. My skin feels super hydrated and keeps flakes at bay all day!
3. Weleda Skin Food Moisturiser
I love using the Weleda Skin Food Moisturiser when my skin needs some extra TLC. I tend to use this more like an overnight mask than a moisturiser as I find it quite thick on my skin. If my skin is particularly dry or my psoriasis patches are especially irritated, I slather this on before bed and let in dry in as I sleep. When I wake up my skin doesn’t feel as tight, more hydrated and not as irritated as it did the night before. I also like to use this product on long-haul flights to keep my skin feeling fresh throughout the flight.
4. Alessandra Steinherr x Primark: Maximum Moisture: Moisture-Locking Everyday Moisturiser
It took me a few months to get my hands on this product, but boy was it worth the wait. This moisturiser is incredible and I still can’t get over the fact that it is £5! It is one of the most hydrating moisturisers I have ever used and it feels super light on my skin. The product doesn’t contain any fragrance which means it shouldn’t irritate your psoriasis. Trust me, I will be rushing back to Primark Edinburgh to buy in bulk!
