I don’t know who needs to hear this, but there is nothing wrong with taking medication to help ease your condition.
I see a lot of people on Instagram talking about healing holistically, which is great and I am a huge advocate for having a holistic plan when dealing with your condition. However, the medical shaming and shaming of people who make informed decisions to use medication makes me really sad.
As someone on biologics, pills, and creams for numerous conditions, we have to be kinder to each other and respect the informed choices we make as individuals. Without my medication, I couldn’t function day to day, my depression would be out of control, and I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed most days due to severe pain.
Please remember that with autoimmune conditions, what works for one person might not work for the other and vice-versa! All of our treatment and healing plans will be as individual to us as we are as people – no two the same!
And above all – Let’s remember to be a kind, respectful, inclusive and supportive community.
